Aqua Label White Protect Milk UV SPF 30 PA ++

A little bit of history.

When i was 17, i did not care about the sunblock at all. I was SOOO tanned. I would have friends with me at Sentosa, lying on the beach, tanning from 11am to maybe 2pm. And i thought ‘ great. The sun is so hot and strong! I like it! The sunnier, the better, and the tanner i becomes!’. I even used the Banana Boat tanning spray, the one WITHOUT ANY SPF AT ALL (RED CAP). I used it all over my body, including my face. Man, what was i thinking then?!?! I could be at least 5 shades darker than i am now. hahahha I’m mac nc30 by the way.

Then after graduating from poly, i stopped tanning, mainly because the lazier side got the better of me. haha. Of course, i had to work right? So time was a bit tight for me at that time, and tanning just stopped naturally. Then i learn through websites, youtube videos about how damaging the uv rays can do to our skin, how it ages our skin etc. Now, i am suffering the consequences of tanning from last time. I have lot’s of moles now! Really felt like crying looking at my moles. Just my ear alone, i have about 3-4 of them, and i did not realize it till i saw it when i put my hair behind my ear while doing makeup one day. I have about 5 or 6 around my neck and upper chest. My face, about 10? I’ve removed some on my face during facials. But there are still some left!! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Then when i entered uni, i purchased my first sunscreen when i was abt 21, which was Avene very high emulsion sunblock (SPF50). I used two bottles of it and stopped using it. It was a little too oily for me. But i really liked the protection it gives me!

Then i switched to Aqua Label, which is this!

I’m also into the 2nd bottle of it. Actually, the thing about japanese product which i dislike is their alcohol content. I think they have very high alcohol content which i really hate! It makes my face dry. But not for this baby here! haha

Let’s look at the texture.

Unlike Avene, which comes out like a cream, this has a very runny and liquid-y texture, which i really love! This means, faster drying time, faster absorption! When i was using avene, i had to wait up to about 10-15mins for it to be absorbed into my skin. -.- Imagine the time spent on makeup after that! But now, with this, i just slapped this on my face, wait for about 2 mins and tada! Well absorbed! It is also easier to spread across my face. With Avene, i had to pat and pat and pat to enhance the absorption rate. I’m so sorry that i keep comparing Avene with this, coz’ these two are the main sunblock which i used before.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

This sunscreen creates a dewy effect as well, so for those dewy skin lovers like me, you would love this! It doesn’t leave a white cast which most sunscreen has.

How about for body? Well, i don’t use sunblock for body. Most of the sunblocks are very sticky. I don’t like the stickiness on my clothes at all. So i would avoid applying them unless i’m in reallyย  hot countries, like Bankgkok/Phuket where the weather is crazily HOT and SUNNY. Although Singapore can be a really hot place, but it’s not as bad as Phuket i guess. hahaha Last August, i went to phuket with a group of friends for holiday. And the weather was so good, so hot. I brought Sunplay SPF 130.

I just wanted to let you girls know that this doesn’t work for me. I don’t know about the alcohol content in it. But i do know it made my friends and me thought that phuket is a very dusty place wherever we goes. It dries out our skin, or rather, our fingers. You know, that kind of feeling when u touch anything, it just feels rough and dirty. In fact, phuket is not dirty. Even after washing our hands with soap, we still feel the dryness. It was a relief for me when i finally decided to wash my hands with my makeup cleanser. Oh gosh, it’s terrible, really.Okay, some people refer this to ‘smooth’. But sorry, this doesn’t feel nice and smooth for me. It’s just…. not suitable for me. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ too bad. Just my 2 cents. :/

Alright, that sums up all i have for today. Hope you like it!

Skinfood Red Orange Jelly BB cream review

For today, i will be reviewing my long awaited item from korea, the Skinfood Red Orange Jelly BB Cream (SPF 20 PA++) in shade no. 2, Natural Beige.

Quoted from skinfood’s website:

This flexible jelly pudding BB cream contains moisture-rich revitalizing ingredients from orange to keep your skin ultra moisturized and to create a hydrated and jelly-like resilient skin with a smooth finish.

Jenny was so kind to help me buy some stuffs (mainly skincares and makeup) when she went to korea for holiday last december. I wasn’t able to get this in Singapore’s Skinfood retail outlets. THEY DID NOT BRING IN THIS RANGE!! WHY!ย  ~.~

Loads of samples were given, especially from skinfood. But i weren’t interested in the samples cos’ they are mostly the same hair products. Like, there were about 5 samples of the SAME hair wash. -.- Might give it away if anyone is interested, since i wouldn’t be using them. Oh, maybe i could use it when i’m heading to the pool for a swim!

Back to topic. I’ve been so looking forward to using the jelly bb cream ever since i watched THIS on youtube. I love her makeup tutorials, she seems like a very gentle and nice person from korea. Do check out her videos!

Well, the ingredients are all written in Korean. I know nothing about it cos i can only read Korean, but don’t understand it at all hahahaha! I suppose the ‘open here’ contains the English version of the product ingredients.

Alright, i don’t like the packaging because it is in a jar. I really don’t like digging my fingers in to get the product, especially if i have long nails(i usually keep my nails short btw), that is so unsanitary! Imagine those bb creams that got stuck in your nails!! Yucks! So, i used a spatula to scoop the product out on my hand. Or, another way would be to scoop out some amount and fill them into those sample jar!

It has SPF 20 PA ++, which means i can don’t wear sunscreen!! YAY for lazy people! I know we should use products of PA +++ (3 +++) to get the maximum protection. And i’ve never trusted those sunscreen properties in base makeup at all. Therefore, i still went ahead with a sunscreen before applying the bb to get maximum protection.

This jelly bb cream is so fun to play around with because of it’s jelly-like texture!

Love that it comes with a lid as well, so that it won’t be messy & disgusting if i were to bring it around in my makeup bag!

This is the best i could do to get the closet shade possible in real life. I have lousy camera, you see.. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

It looks like it’s gonna be so thick when applied, but trust me, it doesn’t! The warmth on your fingers just melts/blends the jelly onto your skin making it so easy to apply! It provides enough hydration for me, but yea, u have to apply quick so that it doesnt dry out too fast on ur face, making it difficult to blend it away.It doesn’t cover my pores as well as etude house’s bb cream. This, to me, it’s more like a tinted moisturizer instead of a bb cream. It has got low to medium coverage. But it’s buildable. I dont have much spots to conceal but still need concealors. Thus, don’t expect too much coverage from this bb cream if you have some hard-to-cover spots. For me, i’m doing fine with it since i don’t need much coverage.

NOTE: I got my BB cream in shade no. 2, which i think has a pink undertone in it! ugh. I’m a Mac NC 30 (studio fix powder), so it looks a little off on my face! But boyf said i looked fine. Maybe I’m too paranoid. sigh. I wanted shade no. 1 initially, but there was no stock! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ totally sucks when u have a good product but in a wrong shade! I’m contemplating to sell it away!! Should i???

Also, remember to cap it as soon as you’re done scooping it out from the jar. You don’t want to lose the hydration in the cream, especially with such humidity in SG!

The pros:
Blends really well
Hydrates like a moisturizer
FUN!
light consistency when applied

The cons:
wrong shade for me
low-medium coverage
Unsanitary
troublesome to scoop out the product
seems to accentuate my pores unless i exfoliate before applying :S

Alright, now it seems like there are more cons about this product than the pros. hahaha

Would i repurchase? : Maybe not. Unless im able to get it in the shade no.1 !

Next post would be the red orange sun powder, also from skinfood! yay!

Lip Allergy (EOS lip balm)

Few days ago, i decided to put on some lip balm before heading to bed.ย  I don’t usually have this habit as i don’t like having my hair sticking onto my lips the next morning. That kind of greasy feel.. eww. now, i regret it so much.

I picked up my favourite EOS lip balm and headed to bed immediately. The next day, i woke up with swollen and red lips, burning and itching! I was like ‘oh god, allergy again!!?’. I had an allergy reaction on my lips 3 months ago but i didn’t know what caused it. I thought it could be the food that i ate, or the lip products that i’ve used. Now, im pretty certain it’s due to the eos lip balm. And the next moment, the eos lip balm is in my bin, without any hesitation. I really hate how my lips looked and feel now. It’s super dry and flaky, with tiny bumps, red and burning. I ate durian and it burnt me more. -.- But i still carried on eating it hehehe!

I told my friend about it and she saw some others had reactions to this eos lip balm too. So, im not alone. I’m thinking i might be allergic to beewax, cos i tried burt’s bees lip balm before and felt that it dried out my lips too… hmm..

But thank goodness, it’s healing now. But it still dries my lips and i can feel the tightness surrounding it, i feel so much older now. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

i want to be able to put on my favourite lip tints soon!!

Naruko Serums

I started using Naruko’s Narcissus total fundamental serum since September. And i’m left with only 1/4 of its amount. pretty fast, isn’t it! I love it’s texture, felt that it’s a serum for everyone. Although i don’t really see the effect it has on my skin, but i love using it as a day to day anti-aging serum.I would definitely repurchase this again. โค

I also bought another serum from its tea tree range. The Tea Tree Oil out Balancing Serum. You can read more about the product HERE.

Basically, it controls oil. But i still have pimples popping out. Nevertheless, i feel it doesn’t have much difference compared to the total fundamental serum. I do notice my skin don’t produce that much oil when using it though.
